Information from Vida Reed, Brookings, SD, great-granddaughter of Adam Bishman who has the original photograph: Adam Bishman went to South Dakota in 1878 and bought a parcel of land for each of his children: Clara, Mary, Elizabeth, Phillip, George and Anna. Mary taught for awhile in a sod house school. The family returned to Waseca County a few years later except for George Bishman and Anna Bishman who stayed and lived out their lives in South Dakota. There is an offset image on the back of this photograph (from another photo that was stored against the back of this one) of a woman with 8 young men posed around her. No identifications.
