Description: sepia tone photograph of the newly built Waseca Evangelical Church in 1902 on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street N.E. See later photo in Record #LU2. Donor, Joyce D. Halley, Modesto, CA, is the grand-daughter of the assistant pastor John Daniel Moede, who Halley says spoke his sermons in German. John Moede and wife Minnie (Holsapple) moved to Washington state around 1915 because of her allergies. John spoke his sermons in English while serving in Washington state. John's father , Frederick Christian Moede was born in Germany and immigrated to America shortly after his marriage. John was born in New Ulm in 1877. John died of pneumonia in Spokane, WA in 1958.
