Waseca Railroad Depot. Waseca Union Railroad Depot. Original Waseca Railroad Depot. 4 3/4" x 6 7/8" black and white photograph of the original train depot in Waseca, servicing both north/south routes and east/west routes; it was built in 1877 when the M & St. L. began service in Waseca; it burned down in 1912; photo was purchased at an antique store in Stillwater; also referred to as the Waseca Union Depot, used by the Winona & St. Peter, and the Minneapolis and St. Louis; faced the southwest; located at the diamond of these railroads' intersection west of the Southern Minnesota Grocery Co. Warehouse; see Waseca Journal, February 28, 1912 for story of the fire, which started in Mrs. Flora Smith's restaurant in an adjacent building. The winds sent flames toward the depot building which was completely destroyed.
