Dwain " Whitey" Aamot was well known for his square dancing and high school rhythm festivals. He attended caller's school and began calling in 1947. When he retired from coaching and teaching he began calling full time. His wife, Barbara, was also involved in the dancing bookings, advertising and all the details of the many square dance weekends he conducted in his 47 years of calling. Whitey graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1932. He was involved in football, basketball and baseball during his high school years and two years at Macalester College. In 1941, he graduated from the University of Minnesota majoring in Physical Education. After coaching two years at the Winnebago High School, he entered the Navy. Whitey coached for three years in the Navy and then received his Master's degree and was accepted to the Physical Education teaching and Coaching post in Waseca. His first year, 1946-1947, the Waseca Central High School Blue Jays basketball team won the District Title, which was a first in Waseca history. 1956-1957, ended his eleven years of coaching, but he stayed on as Athletic Director for 23 years.
