World War II Army Uniform Jacket. Material: textile, plastic and metal. Size: 18 1/2" W. x 24" L. x 25 1/2" L. sleeves. Description: olive green wool twill with olive green satin lining, waist length (Ike) jacket with v-neckline and wide, notched collar forming lapels; front closure with six concealed olive green buttons; adjusting buckles at each side on waistband; long sleeves with cuffs that have two button closure; one pleated breast pocket on each side close with a concealed button and two snaps under a flap; two inside breast pockets, inside right pocket label: "Uniforms of Quality Distinction, Sanders, 130 S. 15th St. Phila. Pa.". Insignia: one gold leaf cluster pinned to each epaulet strap indicating rank of Major (#7501i,j); pin stamped "U.S." on upper lapel indicating Army military branch (#7501g,h); pin stamped with crossed signal flaps attached to lower lapel indicating Signal Corps (#7501 e, f); circular red patch with a white flower and blue star at center indicating Army Services Forces on left shoulder; green square patch centered with a gold wreath worn on right sleeve near cuff indicating Meritorious Service.
Worn by Edwin T. Herbig, Jr., a major in the signal corps of the U.S. Army during WWII. U.S. Army uniform includes: jacket (#7501a), cap (7051b), pants (7501c), belt (7501d) and military insignia (7501 e-k) as well as an ID card and a transport pass. Pins removed during storage.
