Material: textile. Size: 28 3/8" W. x 25" L. Description: white cotton - blue rickrack trim - blue, black and yellow embroidered designs - skirt gathered to 1 1/2" W. waistband - 2 1/2" W. x 24" L. ties extend on each side of waistband to tie in back - 31" L. straps extend from bodice over shoulders, criss cross in back and button at waistline - black and white geometric pattern cross stitched horizontally across lower edge of skirt - "chicken scratch" or "Berlin work" cross stitch pattern - scalloped hemline with embroidered basket design - one patch pocket on each side of skirt trimmed with black running stitch and embroidered floral pattern - same embroidered design at neckline - same black running stitch extends from neckline to straps and along bottom edge.
From Heinrich Bierman family linens. Made by Elizabeth Bierman Herbst. Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. Bernie Bierman was the grandson of a Waseca County pioneer, Heinrich F. Bierman. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in sections 13, in Wilton and 18 in Otisco where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Herbst. Mrs. Herbst was Elizabeth Bierman. They also donated items from Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Perrin. Mrs. Perrin was Emma Bierman. Not found when sorting April 2019.
