Everett Family Gray Muslin Gown. Material: textile, metal.. (a) Jacket. Size: 15 1/4" W. across bodice x 16 1/4" L. x 20 1/2" L. sleeves. Description: gray fine muslin with an overall design of white floral sprig embroidery; vertical bands of crocheted edging bordered with black trim and 4 black velvet ribbon flowers on bodice front each side of closure; 3 vertical decorative bands on bodice back at center of the waist; upper sleeve arm and cuffs encircled with two horizontal bands, long, set-in sleeves, tapered cuffs; orange silk ribbon faced neckline; 5 pin tucks at front bodice shoulder add fullness to the bodice; waistline plunges to a point at center front; front inner closure of 12 hooks & eyes, top closure of 4 hooks and 4 thread eyes; 12 metal stays in bodice; lined with ivory silk. (b) Skirt. 12 1/2" W. at waistline x 47 1/2" L. Description: gray cotton muslin (same as jacket) with overall embroidered white floral pattern; floor length hemline longer in back; black crocheted edging encircles lower area of skirt, 3 horizontal rows of narrow black trim encircle skirt near hemline; waistline trimmed with wide orange silk ribbon tied in a decorative knot at back center; back closure of 3 snaps & 3 hooks & eye; ivory silk underskirt sewn into waistband finished with pleats that show below skirt hem.
Worn & made in the early 1900s - inside fabric deteriorating - Everett family
