Description: multicolored cotton and other fabrics - various textures and weaves - colors: reds, gold, brown, beige, blue, orange and purple - thirty squares of reds, gold, brown, beige, blue, orange and purple - featherstitched plus variety of other stitching techniques represented - blue and gold wool flannel backing - gold yarn ties.
Made by Mrs. John (Julie O'Leary) O'Grady's grandmother. Julie's mother was Katy O'Leary (tavern in Waseca named for her). Katy's mother, Mrs. Pat (Nora) O'Leary, made the quilt in Ireland before coming to America. They came during the potato famine & landed in New York. The O'Leary family farm is 3 miles SW of Janesville in Blue Earth county. Julie O'Leary married John O'Grady from Janesville. They raised their children in Waseca. Pattern is "crazy."
