Ivory Rayon, Puffed Sleeves Dress of Lorraine Malchow. (a) Gown. Material: textile, metal. Size: 15" W. at shoulders x 56 1/2" L. x 13 1/2" W. at waistline. Description: ivory rayon-like fabric - ivory velvet ribbon trim: four rows with bows encircle waistline, four rows encircle hip-line - short puffy sleeves - v-neckline with fabric crossing across bust-line - wide full skirt - size zipper closure. (b) Veil. Material: textile, metal, glass. Size: 41" L. Description: two layers of ivory netting, one longer than the other attached to rayon fabric covered metal headband - headband trimmed with glass bead droplets and off-white leaves.
Lorraine & Larry Malchow opened the Ben Franklin store in Waseca in 1948 on the corner of 2nd Ave. NW & State St. N. The location of the store moved to the corner of 3rd Ave. NE & State St. N. in 1970. The Malchows retired in 1982. Larry Malchow married Lorraine.
