Brown Silk Two Piece Gown of Elizabeth Farrell Brown. Material: textile, metal. (a) Waist. Size: 12" W. at waist x 23" L. Description: brown silk, form fitting jacket with long sleeves - front closure from neck to waist with 13 brass colored buttons - pleated back tapers over hipline to form a tail - 1 1/2" W. standup collar trimmed at center neck with a large round brown button overlaid with an oval trim piece. (b) Skirt. Size: 15" W. at waist x 36 1/2" L. Description: brown silk floor length - front design of diagonal pleats that drape on each side and are held in place by a silver buckle - vertically pleated from draped areas to hemline - brown cotton lining - center back closure with single button (button missing).
Wedding dress of Elizabeth Farrell Brown, worn at her marriage to Hugh Brown which took place 10 June 1884 in Marysburg. Her entire married life was spent in Waseca County.
