Hamilton Pocket Watch and Fob. (a) Watch. Material: metal, glass. Size: 1 7/8" diameter x 1/2" deep. Description: clear crystal lens (cracked) over white clock face with black Arabic numerals, inset second timer and stamped in script at center face: Hamilton; watch inset in gold case with brass winding stem and bail loop at top; reverse side: engraved graphic of double hung garland, hanging pendant and other symbols. (b) Fob. Material: metal. Size: 8" L. Description: gold colored metal chain attached to gold mesh band at center; buttonhole T-bar attached to chain link; spring hook at one end attached to watch loop.
Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman, grandson of Waseca pioneer Heinrich F. Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in Wilton Township, sections 13, and in Otisco Township, section 18 where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Donors, Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Adolph and Elizabeth Bierman Herbst. The Herbst sisters also donated items from D. E. and Emma Bierman Perrin.
