Red Stone Pendant on Chain. Material: metal, stone. Size: 12 1/2" L. chain. Description: gold toned rose-shaped pendant engraved with six britecut leaves radiating from center to outside; red rosecut stone set in six prongs at center; gold loop at top to hold slender chain; six-sided barrel clasp; likely a child's necklace. Belonged to Luella Herbst's mother.
Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman, grandson of Waseca pioneer Heinrich F. Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in Wilton Township, sections 13, and in Otisco Township, section 18 where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Donors, Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Adolph and Elizabeth Bierman Herbst. The Herbst sisters also donated items from D. E. and Emma Bierman Perrin.
