Woman's Encased Pendant Watch. Material: metal, textile. (a) Watch. Size: 1 3/4" diameter x 1/2" D. Description: gold plated patterned circular metal case, decorative edging, top winding stem, bail loop at top holds long flat link gold chain, tiny heart-shaped slide set with two tiny pearls and a red gemstone attached to chain; case front opens to Waltham clock face with Roman numeral hours, stamped inside cover: 4340086; back case opens to display: "Dueber trademark Canton, O. U'S'A' 4340086" and paper label: "Watch Case Engravers Union (AF of L) Label. International Assn Of America". (b) Case. Size: 3" x 4" x 1" D. Description: red plush over metal hinged box, inside form to hold watch, silver metal front closure snap. Belonged to Elizabeth Watthen.
Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman, grandson of Waseca pioneer Heinrich F. Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in Wilton Township, sections 13, and in Otisco Township, section 18 where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Donors, Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Adolph and Elizabeth Bierman Herbst. The Herbst sisters also donated items from D. E. and Emma Bierman Perrin.
