Uniform, Military, WWII Jacket

United States Marine Corps Shirt. Material: textile, metal, plastic. Size: 17" W. x 31" L. Description: green wool serge jacket with dark green satin bodice lining, fitted waistline; inside breast pocket labeled "Post Exchange Officers Uniform Shop Marine Barracks Quantico, VA." Found inside pocket: "Certificate of Honorable & Satisfactory Service in WWII" card (accessioned #7.91; two pleated breast pockets with one button and flap closure; ribbon bar above left pocket (#7.91.2b); two pockets at waistline with one button and flap closure; horizontal straps across shoulders close with one button; cemter front closure with four buttons and buttonholes, green plastic bottom button, all other buttons on coat are bronze tone metal with Marine crest and metal shank; collar dogs (buttons) on lapels are an open version of the Marine crest; two large metal hooks at back for belt loops (belt missing).
Waseca County Military - WW II. U.S. Marine uniform, #7.91.1-6, worn by Dr. Robert Collins who served in the Pacific, the Battle of Tenian and Saipan, Okinawa, Occupation of Japan. Discharged March 20, 1946. Left college at Iowa State, Ames in his senior year to enlist.
