White Satin and Net Dress of Ruth Gossman Grundwald. Material: textile, metal. Size: 36" W. x 60" L. Description: white satin full underskirt and bodice, white net overskirt, white lace yoke insert and bodice overlay, narrow stand up collar, long, tapered sleeves. (b) Veil. Material: textile, pearl. Size: 36" L. Description: white net bridal headdress affixed to wire circle covered with double thickness veiling - floral embroidery applique trim all over and around wire a band of embroidered lace flowers with pearl centers in front and in back a spray of white lilac artificial flowers. Wire support frame has rusted to a deep brown destroying adjacent fabric.
Worn by Ruth Agnes Gossman for her wedding to Lambertus "Bert" Dirk Groeneveld 29 April 1953 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Janesville, Minnesota. See photograph 77.80.93. Note in the original gift agreement form states: "Wedding dress and veil worn by Josephine Marie Anderson at her wedding to Robert Joseph Gossman March 1, 1916 in Rock Island, Illinois. Embroidered net - two tiers, cummerbund is boned silk, sleeveless jacket with lace yoke. A friend made it for her mother."
