Native American War Club. Rock is elongated with blunt pointed ends. Fits into circle of wood covered with leather. Has bands of beads around middle of stick. Two green, 2 pink, 1 Blue in center. 22' long, 4 7/8' wide (head) and ca 1 1/2' thick (head). Shows some wear.
Native American. Origin of this club is difficult to determine. The Head appears to be made of quartz. The beads are trade beads which would indicate that the club was made after the white traders began coming into the region. Tourist piece. Normally a club of this type was made for combat. Indian Artifact. Dakota Indian club circa 1910. Very fragile. Beads falling off. Currently displayed in the flat exhibit case located on the museum balcony timeline.
