Julia Halvorsen (or Halvorson) Hanson Wedding Gown. Blue Cotton Gown of Julia Halvorsen Hanson of Otisco. Material: textile, metal. (a) Waist. Size: 13" W. x 21 1/2" L. Description: blue cotton, small stand up collar, blue velvet pleated lapels and ruffles on both shoulders and long cuffed sleeves, three rows of black metal buttons with gold and silver trim from lapel to waist, front closure with ten sets of hooks and eyes, back detailed with two cotton tabs and two velvet tabs. (b) Skirt. Size: 15" W. at waist x 43" L. Description: blue cotton floor length, blue velvet edged hemline, velvet covered buttons, blue cotton bustle and front apron. (c) Cap. Size: 7" W. X 9" H. x 17" L. Description: blue velvet headdress; wire frame around edges. See photograph 4675.
Ludwig Hanson and Julia Halvorsen (Halvorson) were married March 11, 1888, Lebanon, WI. Dress was hand sewn by Julia Halvorsen for her marriage to Ludwig Hanson in Lebanon, Wisconsin on March 11, 1888. They were married by Reverend Williamson and witnesses were Andrew Hanson, E.S. Nelson & Mrs. Nelson. Ludwig M. Hanson was born in 1863 and died in 1940 and is buried in Otisco. Julia T. was born in 1861 and died in 1944 and is buried in Otisco. See photograph 4675.
