Annie Heckes Johnstone Wedding Gown. Gray Wool Two-Piece Floor Length. Material: textile. Two piece ensemble. (a) Waist. Size: 12" W. at waistline x 18" L. Description: gray wool jacket - light colored silk collar with lace trim - squared lapels edged with floral trim band - long, puffed sleeves edged with lace at wrist - hem edge of bodice edged with band of floral trim. (b) Skirt. Size: 12" W. at waistline x 43" L. Description: gray wool floor length skirt - horizontal band of trim encircles skirt at knee level. See wedding photograph 1.99.925. (Waist silk fabric over bodice completely shattered. Some staining on skirt.)

Worn by Annie Heckes for her marriage to Harry Johnstone, New Richland, 16 November 1898. Anne was born 18 June 1873 and died 18 May 1962. Harry Johnstone was the son of Archibald Robert Johnstone and Caroline Chaney Johnstone. Harry died 7 September 1931 of pernicious anemia. See donation record for more family history information.
