Oldest Wedding Dress in Collection. Ivory Cotton, Brown Floral Print Dress of Mrs. Lee Rollins. Material: textile. Description: ivory cotton with brown floral design - long sleeves tightly gathered and fitted at the shoulder, bloused fully to the elbow, tapered to the wrist - skirt falls from empire waistline - upper bodice gathered into the wide square neckline and the raised waistband.
Oldest dress in collection. Donated by Mrs. Lee Rollins from Rollins estate. Dress worn by Lavinia Sleeper for her wedding to Rueben Rollins in New Hampshire in 1835. The Rollins moved to Minnesota in 1855. Son, Samuel Sleeper Rollins moved to Freedom. Goes with camisole 1.90.194 b.
