Black Wool Cape. Material: textile, metal. Size: 18 1/2" W. x 39" L. Description: black wool and taffeta 3/4 length coat topped with a 25" L. cape, round velvet collar edged with a 1" W. band of black taffeta, a row of black piping separates the velvet part of the collar from the taffeta band, collar edged in same black piping; lower edge of coat to hemline is encircled with bands of narrow piping, a 2 1/2" W. band of taffeta, a 2 1/2" W. band of black velvet and two bands of 4" black fringe; front closure with three fabric covered buttons edged with black velvet, three more buttons run parallel to the closure buttons to form a double breasted design; cape is attached at both sides at the shoulder; back cape detail: 3 1/2" W. x 22" L. black velvet panel extends from center neckline to below waistline, velvet panel is trimmed with a vertical row of three large beaded, tasseled and beribboned leaf-shaped appliques; cape is seamed to coat on each side of the velvet panel in the back and edged with a wide band of black velvet, narrow black piping and long black fringe.
