Material: wood. Size: 3" W. x 10 1/4" L. Description: natural wood - circular wooden 9" L. shaft handle - square peg carved onto one end - two wooden rectangular pieces are tongue and grooved together to form the beater and attached to the shaft peg.
A hand beater used for making "grot", a Norwegian recipe for porridge using flour and cream and served hot with butter, sugar and cinnamon. Tool was handmade by O. Dahl. David Dahl and Mr. Moen were partners in a shoe repair shop for many years. Mr. Moen was a tall man, Mr. Dahl was shorter and more slight. Each morning each partner put the same amount of cash in the till and each evening the day's receipts were divided equally by the partners. They never to anyone's knowledge quarreled. The business was dissolved by mutual consent when they were both very old men. Flour blender given by his daughter, Mrs. Hjalmer L. Johnson.
