Material: textile, metal. (a) Waist. Size: 15" W. across shoulders x 17" L. Description: rose-colored fine cotton - rose velveteen asymmetrical collar - left lapel lying flat and tapering to the waistline - right lapel is wider and shorter and folds back over upper bodice - diagonal row of four velveteen covered buttons run from below right lapel to waistline - V-neckline - 3/4 length sleeves with wide rose velveteen split cuffs trimmed with a vertical row of four fabric covered buttons - closure with hook and eye at waistline - bottom pinked edge gathered at waistline and designed to be tucked into skirt. (b) Skirt. Size: 12" W. at waist x 41" L. Description: rose cotton - floor length flared hemline - 1/4" W. band of lighter pink trim at hemline - pleats on each side of skirt near hemline - a vertical row of 8 fabric covered buttons accent the top of one skirt pleat - a vertical row of 7 fabric covered buttons accent the other side just below the waistline - a diagonal band of same fabric trims the middle skirt front. (c) Blouse: cream colored net lace - short sleeves - lace insert in V-shaped neckline - 2" W. lace wrap-around stand up collar - closure with hooks and eyes at shoulders and down left side of bodice.
Worn by Mrs. Elizabeth Berman Herbst. Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. Bernie Bierman was the grandson of a Waseca County pioneer, Heinrich F. Bierman. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in sections 13, in Wilton and 18 in Otisco where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Herbst. Mrs. Herbst was Elizabeth Bierman. They also donated items from Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Perrin. Mrs. Perrin was Emma Bierman.
