Janesville High School Band Uniform. (a) Pants. Material: textile, metal. Size: 36" W. x 36" L. Description: black wool trousers with a flat black band stripe on outside seam extending from waist to bottom pant leg; front fly closure with silver colored zipper; short waistline adjusting zippers on each side; inside labels: "13 - Uniforms by Astwald"; "GIRL Uniform - Female". (b) Jacket. Material: textile, metal. Size: 15" W. x 27" L. Description: black wool tailored jacket; long sleeves and notched lapels; brass buttons on each cuff, and at center front closure; small gold shield emblem on left upper pocket: "Concert JHS Band"; inside tag :"11 Uniform by Astwald." [c] Bib. Material: textile, metal. Size: 13" W. x 18" L. Description: gold wool bib to wear over top of jacket; stand-up collar piped with black and white; sleeveless with a large black monogram: "JHS" on front; edges trimmed with a braid of black and white that attaches with two brass snaps at one shoulder; two long gold cords hang from a brass button at the shoulder and extend down length of the arm; adjustable straps with sliding metal buckle at waistline on both sides;- "Bear" emblem patch sewn on back.
Janesville Public Schools - Music. Band. Used by the Janesville High School Band between 1960-1980s. Pieces of this uniform were worn by Annette Goodrich and some pieces were worn by Ann Gessner. The two uniform donations were blended together to make a complete band uniform. One uniform was donated by Betty Goodrich in 1990 and one uniform was donated by Kathy Gessner in 2003. Ann Gessner daughter of Kathy Gessner, graduated from Janesville High School in 1982 and was in the concert band. The band director in 1980 was David Shea.
