Material: textile, pearl. Size: 20" W. at waist x 29" L. Description: white cotton muslin - each leg hem trimmed with 4 1/2" W. cambric ruffle edging and eyelet - each pant leg is sewn separately and joined in the back - both are attached at the 1" W. waistband - front closure with a 1/2" white pearl button - 4 1/2" W. yoke around waistline - lower pant legs cut very full.
All articles #4500 through #4605 are from a shipment made by Luella and Marguerite Herbst of Pasadena, California. They are a gift (including the freight from California) to the Waseca County Historical Society. Explanatory notes will be found with the Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. Bernie Bierman was the grandson of a Waseca County pioneer, Heinrich F. Bierman. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in sections 13, in Wilton and 18 in Otisco where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Herbst. Mrs. Herbst was Elizabeth Bierman. They also donated items from Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Perrin. Mrs. Perrin was Emma Bierman.
