McGrath Family Baptismal Gown. Material: textile. Size: 8" W. x 36 5/8" L. Description: white, cotton lawn with a round neckline and gathered in front; four appliqued flowers on front; long sleeves with gathers at wrists; 4" trim at bottom hem with machine embroidery and cutwork with tiny scallops.
Made by Mattie McGrath Williamson (aunt of donor) in 1899. Petticoats Acc. #72.85.2, #72.85.3, bonnet #72.85.4, bootees #72.85.5 were all made to go with gown. Donor and her brothers and sisters were baptized in the outfit.
