A. J. Anderson was a Waseca county buttermaker for many years and won some outstanding awards. Among them was a Sweepstakes Award given by the National Creamery Buttermakers' Association, which was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin October, 1909. His score was 97. He also received a Sweepstakes Award by the same group in 1911. At the National Dairy Show held in Columbus, Ohio in 1917, Mr. Anderson was given a bronze medal for the second highest scoring entry of 94. Andrew J. Anderson, died on his 71st birthday Sunday, May 17 at his home at 113 6th Ave. N.W., at five o'clock in the morning. He had been ill for two years with a heart ailment. Funeral services were held from St. John's American Lutheran church at two o'clock today (Wednesday), with the Rev. P. W. Pilgrim in charge. Family services were held earlier at eleven o'clock. The Peterson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, and burial was in Woodville cemetery. Casketbearers were Elling Larson, William Gehring, Fred Kruger, Henry Grunwald, John Below and Art Bartels. Mr. Anderson was born in Otisco May 17, 1886, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis M. Anderson. He attended grade school in District 21, and the dairy course at the University of Minnesota. As buttermaker for the Otisco creamery, he won two national medals and several state medals on his butter. On March 10, 1929, he moved to Waseca Coop Creamery before engaging in business for himself in the Waseca County Creamery. He married Elsie M. Bauman of Otisco at the Wilton Lutheran church September 18, 1912. She survives as do three daughters, Mrs. H. C. Von Weien, (Beryl), San Anselmo, Calif., Mrs. Kenneth Neff (Lois), Waseca; and Lourella F. Henry, San Mateo, Calif., and two sons, Loren, St. Paul; and Andrew H., Waseca. He also leaves three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Seth Winegar, New Richland, Ida M. Anderson, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. L. W. Wasbotten, Minneapolis, and Walter M. Anderson, Tacoma, Wash.
