World War II United States Marine Corps Green Service Uniform of Lawrence Yess. Material: textile, metal, plastic. (a) Jacket. Green wool. Sleeve patches: two private first class chevrons, 5th Marine Division patch. (b) Pants. Green wool. (c) Belt. Green wool with silver buckle. (d) Garrison Cap. Eagle, Anchor enlisted insignia pin attached. (e) Tie. Beau Brummel, tan cotton 4-fold uniform tie. (f) USMC Work Shirt. Material: textile, metal. Size: 20" shoulder to shoulder x 30" L. Description: olive drab with herringbone pattern; long-sleeved with two metal USMC buttons on each cuff; front closure with 3 metal USMC buttons and one olive colored plastic button; collar; one left upper body pocket stamped USMC and its logo; two large lower front pockets.
Lawrence Yess served in the U. S. Marines of the 28th Regiment, 5th Division and fought in the Battle Iwo Jima, February 1945, an island in the Pacific which was the site of one of the bloodiest and most famous battles of World War II against Japan.
