The Hultgren family were members of the Vista Mission Covenant Church near New Richland. The elder Hultgrens were Swedish immigrants, and Hilma Anderson Hultgren was recognized in Sweden for her poetry and even given the title of "The Quiet Poet". Her daughter, Olga Hultgren Alexanderson (grandmother of the donor) was a well known rug weaver in the New Richland area and was recognized for her piano playing skills.
