Artist Jack Dahl was born in Madelia, Minnesota in 1939; he attended high school in Janesville and was the son of Jack Dahl Sr., a high school teacher and coach and his wife Velma Dahl. After college, the younger Dahl lived in Janesville with his wife Barbara and son Luke for several years before changing his career path and attending seminary to become a pastor.
