Navy Unit Commendation Medal Ribbon of Robert Connors. Material: textile, metal. Size: 1/2" x 1 1/2". Description: blue, yellow, red, green, vertical striped grosgrain ribbon mounted on metal bar with safety pin on back; awarded by the Secretary to any ship, aircraft, detachment, or other unit of the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps which has since December 6, 1941 (one day prior to the Japanese attack on the U.S. forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii) distinguished itself in action against the enemy with outstanding heroism not sufficient to justify award of the Navy Presidential Unit Citation.
Awarded to Robert M. Connors of Waseca, Minnesota. Besides the criteria entered above in the description, it is also awarded for non-combat service, in support of military operations, which was outstanding when compared to other units or organizations performing similar service. The Navy Unit Commendation was established by order of the Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal on December 18, 1944.
