Maytag Washing Machine. Material: metal, rubber. Size: 22" x 43" H. Description: gray metal tub; "Maytag" on side; gasoline-powered washing machine; wringer attached to top; four metal legs with casters; black rubber drainage hose attached to lower tub area; metal frame.
Donor contacted Maytag Company and was told that based on serial number, the machine was probably a 1929 model. The Maytag Washing Machine Company was founded in 1893 by businessman Frederick Maytag. In 1925, the Maytag Washing Machine Company became Maytag, Inc. In 1946, Maytag began marketing a separate line of ranges and refrigerators made by other companies under the Maytag name.
