Minnesota No. 4 Sickle Mower. Material: metal, wood. Size: 51" W. x 127" L. x 5" H. Description: metal seat; two metal wheels; wooden tongue; 5 foot blade on side.
The hay mower was used to cut the hay standing in the field. This horse driven mower was built in the 1920s in the Stillwater State Prison. Hay mowers have changed a little since the first mowers were put out before the Civil War. Used in the 1920s. Donated by Anton Brase, Rte. 1, Owatonna, Minnesota.
