Hay Tedder. Material: metal, wood. Size: 81" x 116" x 52" H. Description: metal frame; two metal wheels; metal seat; wooden tongue.
The hay tedder was a short-lived machine for kicking up hay to make it dry quicker, either when green or after a rain. Used to spread newly mown hay to expose it to the sun and air for better drying. The tedder made its appearance in 1864 and was used through the 1870s. Used by Irving Lau of Freedom Township. On loan to Farmamerica as of 2006.
