Overseas Cap. Material: textile. Size: 5" x 11 1/2". Description: gray wool, narrow, visorless; yellow braid trim extends along horizontal seam; cap decorated with a metal U. S. flag pin, a Veterans Helping Veterans pin, a 1997 pin, 100th Anniversary, 1999 Veterans of Foreign Wars pin, American Veterans AMVETS of World War II, Korea, Vietnam patch, an Action Corps VFW pin, a Celebrate Freedom eagle pin and yellow textile print: "AMVETS, 31" across front.
Lester Quitney was with the Tank Destroyer Battalion 899 for the United States army from 1943-1945. He worked at a CCC Camp in Washington State in December 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Rhineland Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Central Europe, Northern France and Normandy until being honorably discharged in 1945.
