See photo 815. The first blacksmith shop in Waseca County was built in Wilton in 1856 by H.P. Norton of Yates County, New York. H.P. worked across the country at his trade, finally locating in Wilton. He and a younger brother ran the blacksmith shop until 1859, when he was elected clerk of the district court.
