Shell Disk Love Bead Necklace. Material: shell, plastic, metal. Size: 1/8" diameter x 16" L. Description: white shell disks strung alternately at intervals with one or two round brown plastic beads on fine metal filament; one brown bead at each end; closure with metal screw type clasp at each end.

Handmade beaded necklaces called "love beads" were very fashionable in the late 1960s, and it became a fad to trade beads with friends as a universal symbol for brotherly love and acceptance. They could be any size or shape, exquisitely crafted or plain. Love beads were all you needed for the complete hippie look.
