I.O.O.F. Grand Lodge Badge. (a) Badge. Material: textile, metal. Size: 2 1/4" W. x 6" L. Description: red satin, vertically worn badge, stamped: "Grand Lodge I.O.O.F. Minnesota"; gold circular starburst shaped medallion suspended from narrow gold bar at top edge imprinted: "Grand Lodge of Minnesota I.O.O.F. Instituted May 5th , 1853" and displaying an I.O.O.F. member holding flag with American Indian in background; gold metallic fringe at lower badge edge. (b) Box. Material: cardboard and metal. Size: 3 1/2" W. x 11" L. Description: brown cardboard badge box, silver metal staples.
Waseca organization: Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.), a secret society for the mutual aid and benefit of the members, originated in England in the 18th Century. Badge worn by Odd Fellows in Waseca Comee Lodge #25 for funeral and other ceremonies.
