Major William C. Young, Probate Judge. 19" x 22" crayon print (colored pastels) portrait of Major William C. Young, a Waseca County Probate Judge at the time of his death on May 9, 1889; born in Madison County, N.Y. on August 10, 1826; married Caroline Kingsley on July 12, 1846, sister of Bishop Kingsley of the M. E. Church; during the Civil War, he served in Company E, Eighth Wisconsin Infantry, promoted to major in 1864; elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1870, to the senate in 1871, appointed postmaster of Waseca in 1876; elected judge of probate in 1885; father of William H. Young, Eugene W. Young, Mabel A. Young, and Luna E. Young (deceased by 1889); daughter married Mr. Bensel.
