Oval Shaped Gold Locket. Material: metal. Size: 1 3/8" W. x 1 7/8" L. Description: gold colored, oval metal, front engraved with leaf and acorn pattern, plain back, top ring for connecting chain, hinged top opens to two metal oval picture frames. Belonged to Luella Herbst.
Bierman Collection: Bernie Bierman, grandson of Waseca pioneer Heinrich F. Bierman was a football coach at the University of Minnesota for the Golden Gophers. In 1855, Heinrich made a claim in Wilton Township, sections 13, and in Otisco Township, section 18 where he lived until December 22, 1882, when he was accidentally killed by a fall from a wagon. His wife and five children lived in Waseca after his death. Donors, Luella and Marguerite Herbst are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Bierman, and the daughters of Adolph and Elizabeth Bierman Herbst. The Herbst sisters also donated items from D. E. and Emma Bierman Perrin.
